The only thing that tells you this Kurzweil CUP-2A is not an acoustic grand piano is the fact that it has an extendible control panel. It's a digital stage piano complete with Fatar keyboard, wooden keys, 6 speakers and an impressive grand sound. It feels and plays like a genuine acoustic piano and the TP40W Fatar keyboard delivers a realistic graded hammer-action response. The sounds in this piano are expressive and convincing, as they were accurately sampled from a 2.5m-long acoustic grand piano. What's more, the CUP-2A comes with a matching piano bench so you can sit down and play it right away!

CUP-2A: speakers and connections

Even though the CUP-2A looks like an acoustic piano, its sound generator is 100% digital. It has a built-in 150-watt amplifier and no fewer than six speakers that deliver a realistic, spacious sound. If you want to practise in silence, simply connect a set of headphones to one of the two jack outputs. You can also hook up an external audio source or recording device using the RCA outputs. You can also connect an MP3 player to one of the RCA inputs too and play along with your favourite songs. Record your session as MIDI and transfer it to a computer via the USB port or MIDI connectors.

Sounds and practice functions

If you like mixing things up, this deluxe digital piano is just the ticket. It has 88 top-notch sounds that vary from acoustic and electric pianos to organs, wind instruments, string instruments, (bass)guitars and even drums. Furthermore, the CUP-2A offers all kinds of features that are sure to come in handy while practising, such as an internal metronome and tap-tempo function. To use the latter, all you have to do is tick the desired tempo and the metronome will automatically take over. Use the recorder to playback and listen critically to your sessions.
