Allmänt
The full version of Reason is a serious music production package. It has thousands of great functions, but perhaps you only really need a handful. In that case, you should consider the Propellerhead Reason Essentials 9. It's a lovely streamlined combination of a sequencer and a rack with virtual instruments and effects. With this version, you get all of the essentials that you need to produce and mix tracks.

It's tempting to think that you can't do much with just the essentials, especially considering how much less this package costs than the full version. Appearances, however, can be deceiving. The NN-XT, for instance, is an full-fledged sampler with all sorts of synthesis functions. Redrum puts a classic xox-style drum computer at your fingertips, and Subtractor will feed your hunger for vintage synthesis. ID-8 puts the general 'bread 'n butter' sounds at your disposal, and there's also an assortment of virtual effects available, such as delay, reverb, and an equalizer. Like we said, it really is a complete production package, and for the mere price of just a tank of fuel. And if you find out you need more effects, you can always invest in separate Reason Rack Extensions.
The story of Reason
There are tons of DAW packages out there with all of the possibilities you could imagine. It's not always easy to find your way, but Reason offers a ready-made way: the Reason way. It's a total solution that gives you all kinds of virtual synthesizers and effects that you can then combine. Simply put, Reason makes it possible to turn your musical ideas into a complete mixed finished product, without you having to add extra products to the process. Propellerhead has been successfully promoting this formula since December of 2000, when the first version of Reason came out.
