It's made of Meinl's own FX9 alloy - a complex blend of copper, zinc, manganese and aluminium. Meinl has also added a number of cutouts to this cymbal, which filters the sound, resulting in cymbal with a unique, rich character.

A china cymbal usually produces a dirty, trashy sound. This Filter China is not particularly aggressive or trashy, however. Its sound is somewhere between that of a big splash and a regular china.
