Warmth, dynamics, rich bass, punchy mids and open trebles - it's hard to believe you can get so much mid-power magic from such a small, portable bass amp. Whereas the world of bass amplifiers usually focusses on class-D amps, Mesa Boogie takes a different approach, finding inspiration in linear power supply and Mosfet power amplification. The Mesa Boogie Walkabout: lightweight but potent
Weighing a mere 14.3 lbs, this lightweight bass amp still packs a mean wallop. It delivers either 300 watts to a 4-ohm bass cabinet, or 165 watts to an 8-ohm speaker. Two 12 AX7 tubes in the preamp supply plenty of dynamics and warmth, and a three-band semi-parametric equalizer allows you to control your sound to a level that goes beyond regular tone knob control. Start by shaping your output with the active bass and treble knobs, and then use the passive mid knob to determine the mid response.
Semi-parametric equalizer for optimal tone
Would you like to boost or cut specific frequencies? The Walkabout's equalizer allows you to do so. As the frequencies partly overlap, there are virtually infinite possibilities to tweak your bass sound to perfection. A 15dB boost or cut can be applied anywhere within the frequency range, from the 30Hz bass tones to the highest trebles. Your DI will then transmit your edited sound directly to your mixer. The Mesa Boogie Walkabout even features a true bypass FX loop, which can be switched off for an untainted signal.
