Bought this little bass for my 17 yr old daughter coz my basses are a bit big for her and her basses were too small. But this one was just right. It may be short scale but it acts like a big little monster. She’s been playing it all week and I’ve given it a good hiding too. It’s a great bit of kit. It looks great it sounds great. It’s solid as a rock. For any little skinny Minnie fingered bass wannabes out there this is the one. Very reasonable priced for what you get. Yes I’d recommend for sure.
As a guitarist, I bought this mainly for playing bass lines in my recordings. It is the perfect bass for a guitarist and doesn't feel too foreign. It's almost the same size as a guitar, so feels just like playing a guitar with thicker strings. It sounds great and is really fun to play. It's also very light, so would suit any bass player who struggles with heavy instruments.
For the money, the build quality is amazing. It's basically flawless, with nice looking woods and a very dark freetboard. The fretwork is immaculate and it holds tune very well, even in Eb or drop D. There is no buzzing at all. The metal used for the bridge and tuners feels quite thin, but seems to perform OK and the black finish looks nice. It would be easy to upgrade at some point in the future.
I would highly recommend this little bass, especially for guitarists.
Basd arrived quickly . A good basic factory set-up; in tune , intoned and acceptable string height
Perfectly playable out of the box. Tweaks of the truss rod and bridge adjusters to lower the action were for my own preference ,not from necessity.
The overall finish is so good that l actually grinned as l unboxed the bass.
The bass sounds good and looks good and comes with instruction book and Allen type keys for minor adjustments.
Personally l find the position of the input jack a minor annoyance when playing sitting down but that's the only mildly negative thing l could think of.
Based on my example it represents excellent value.lt's a neat little bass, light enough(6lb 9ounces)and small enough for a person of limited strength or stature to handle ; yet it'll fit into the hands of anyone who just wants a handy sized instrument.
The Mikro Bass came well packed. My example is so unexpectedly well finished that l felt myself grin as l unwrapped it.
Someone at the factory had put in a few minutes work setting it up because it came out of the box in tune with good intonation. The "action" (string height from fretboard) was a probably a tad higher than an experience player would like but still acceptable
In other words ; the bass was playable straight from the box!
It wasn't essential but simply
from personal preference lowered the string action a bit with simple bridge adjustments . The bass has a manual covering simple adjustments & care.
The input socket on the lower edge of the bass is a minor annoyance when playing sitting.
Intially l had terrible echoing resonation from the open D string but this settled after a few playing hours.
I'm glad it did because l really didn't want to return what is a great little lightweight bass!
Absolutely love this Ibanez bass guitar. The short-scale makes this easy to play, especially if, like me, you're primarily a guitar player. Great sound even going straight into an audiobox and into my computer. Had a go recently on an upmarket Fender short-scale bass, and this compares favourably to that one, but at a fraction of the price. Nice walnut finish means it looks good as well.
