ESP LTD's PT-4 (2015) is the new and improved version of the Pancho Tomaselli signature bass guitar. Whereas the previous version sports a sombre black body, the new PT-4 brandishes a transparent blue finish, greatly emphasising the exceptional grain of the swamp ash. What's more, this electric bass guitar now has a white pickguard, which contrasts beautifully with the black control plate that is still home to three controls. The combination of body shape and classic single-coil pickups makes the PT-4 a delightfully traditional-looking bass guitar with a modern twist.

PT-4: pickups and active EQ

Pancho Tomaselli (bass player for War and PHILM) picked a body shape that we know from LTD's J series - classic curves yet with distinctively pointy horns. Another interesting feature is the tone control (a stacked bass/treble nob) as it is active - thus allowing for powerful bass/treble boosts or cuts. Combined with the versatility of the single-coil/split single-coil pickup configuration, you can draw a wide range of sounds from this bass guitar. The swamp ash, lastly, ensures a powerful, sweet yet clear base tone.
