Pioneer DDJ-1000

Pioneer hides some new and innovative features in the DDJ-1000 controller, like integrated screens in the jog wheels, a four-channel mixer, a comprehensive effects section and sample pads. Pioneer, the biggest name in DJ gear, has launched a controller that is reminiscent of standalone models. It has a pair of full-colour displays that are integrated right in the centre of the large jog wheels, that show you all the information you need to know. The mixer is simply the club standard, featuring all the necessary controls and faders. The effects section has been expanded upon with some FX and the pads are familiar-looking as well, even though they hide yet another comprehensive sampler.

Pioneer DDJ-1000: NXS2 disguised as a controller

As you can see in the image, the DDJ-1000 is equipped with a pair of large jog wheels. These have been borrowed directly from the CDJ-2000NXS2, as was the rest of the design. The only difference is that you won't break your back trying to lift it! What's more, you can easily expand it with media players and turntables. You can also adjust the screens in the jogs to ensure the information you want to see is at hand when you need it.

New features

As well as the screens in the jogs, the DDJ-1000 is also equipped with a number of other innovative features. It includes the newest version of Rekordbox DJ, for starters, which enables you to select related tracks that you otherwise perhaps would not have considered using. You'll also get four new time-based effects in the FX section and instead of eight hot cues per deck, you'll have sixteen at your disposal. Also, harmonic mixing has been tweaked even more to prevent illogical musical transitions thanks to the key shift function. All in all, this controller isn't the new club standard for nothing!
