Crash cymbals come in all shapes and sizes, and German cymbal manufacturer Meinl has something for just about everyone. As part of their Byzance series - which consists of carefully crafted, hand-hammered cymbals - they offer a few Vintage Crashes, for instance. This 20-inch B20VC Vintage Crash has a sand-blasted finish, giving it a matte look that clearly shows off its extensive hammering.

Of course, that sandblasting process served more than just an aesthetic purpose - combined with this cymbal's generous size, it also gives this Vintage Crash a rich, dry sound with a broad low-frequency spread.
